Highlights of the Conference

The event provided a comprehensive overview of emerging opportunities and strategies for private equity investment across key sectors in Africa. It opened with a macroeconomic analysis by Charlie Robertson of RenCap, highlighting key economic trends shaping the continent’s future. This was followed by an in-depth report on the performance and progress of South Suez Funds, delivered by Matthew Hunt, Catherine Swanepoel and Ziyaad Azeer.

 

The agenda also explored the private equity opportunities in East Africa, presented by Martha Osier of Adenia, who emphasized the region’s untapped potential in various sectors. Disha Copreaux, CEO of Red Land Roses, highlighted the growth prospects and challenges in Africa’s agribusiness sector. Tosin Awoyinka of Helios shared insights on the strategic role of data centers in Africa’s digital transformation, while Snehar Shar of IX Africa discussed the growing significance of digital infrastructure in unlocking economic growth.

 

The day concluded with a presentation by Hossam Abou Moussa from APIS on fintech’s role in driving financial inclusion across the continent, followed by Rahul Jain of Peach Payments, who detailed innovations and growth trends in Africa’s payments industry.

In 2014 we take a look at West Africa through the eyes of our GPs, look at the digital revolution in more detail and present company case studies along the consumer evolution curve. In 2010 our inaugural Africa investor conference focused on the investment case for Africa from both a “top down” macro perspective, as well as a “bottoms up” micro perspective, with both our GPs and some representative portfolio companies in attendance.
